research - overview Dr Binzel graduated from the Medical School at St Louis University in Missouri and completed his internship in Ohio. He entered family practice in Ohio in 1955. He became interested in the role of nutrition in human disorders and treated his patients using a combination of laetrile and nutrition between 1974 and 1991. The results are included in his book, Alive and Well. Dr Dean Burk held a PhD in biochemistry from the University of California. He was the senior chemist at the National Cancer Institute which he helped establish and in 1946 became the Director of the Cytochemistry section. He belonged to eleven scientific organization, wrote three books relating to chemotherapy and was the author of more than two hundred scientific papers in the field of cell chemistry. He was a strong advocate of laetrile and was frequently involved in intense exchanges with politicians and others in its support. G. Edward Griffin is a writer and documentary film producer and has written many books on controversial subjects. His book, World Without Cancer, is probably one of the best known and widely read books on laetrile. The book was first published in 1974 and has undergone numerous reprintings. Dr Harold W Manner received his Bach Sc from John Carroll University and both his M.S. and PhD from Northwestern University. He has been the Chairman of the Biology Depts of Syracuse University, St Louis University and Loyola University of Chicago. He has authored over 50 scientific articles and published 6 college level textbooks. After over 30 years in academic teaching and research he retired to devote full time to metabolic therapy including the use of laetrile to treat cancer. Dr John Richardson received a doctorate of medicine from the University school of Medicine and completed an internship at Cooperstown, New York. He began practicing medicine in the San Francisco Bay area in 1954. From 1972 until his death in 1988 he was at the forefront of the laetrile controversy and was the subject of much litigation aimed at stopping him from prescribing laetrile to his patients.
